FAQ

I have attempted to answer a few of the most commonly asked questions, but please visit the contact page and send me any further questions you may have.

1. How would you describe your style of photography?

My work begins behind the camera but doesn’t end there. I find beauty in soft contrast images, and I make a point to capture images where I’m able to separate the subject itself from the background. With an emphasis on documentary photography, I capture creative moments that you want to remember many years down the road. And, while I’m not a big fan of ‘posed’ shots, there is an art to capturing the way that a family, couple, or individual responds to being in front of the camera. My photography style is best represented in my portfolio.

2. How do I book a session?

Thanks for asking! I’d love to get in touch about my availability and what kind of event or portrait session coverage you will need. You can contact me directly here.

3. How much does it cost to book a shoot?

First, submit a request on the contact page. Try to include as much detail as possible so I can respond quickly with an accurate quote depending on the time, location, and photo coverage requested. If you are booking a family photoshoot, you can expect to pay anywhere from $100-$175 per session depending on location and requested duration of photoshoot.

4. What does my photo session include?

Every photo session is approximately 60-90 minutes in length. Each package includes an upgraded online Pass.us gallery to view/print/share/download your photos, as well as a print release for those digital images. This means that you have the rights to download and print your photos anywhere you’d like.

5. Do you have any recommendations for printing services?

You will receive instructions for printing within the Pass.us gallery that is included in your photo package. This is the preferred method to order images of standard sizes (4×6, 5×7, and 8×10). For other custom sizes, I recommend using a print service such as MPIX. If you need additional assistance with professional printing, please let me know.

6. Are you available to travel?

Yes. Depending on the dates for your shoot, I would love to cover your event even if it is outside of a normal driving distance from my home town of Cary, NC. Include that information when you first inquire about my availability. It is the responsibility of you the client to help cover any applicable travel expenses, outlined well in advance.

7. What kind of equipment do you use? (for those photography nerds)

I will always answer this question and talk about gear, but I cannot stress enough how important the eye behind the equipment is in creating art in photography. Having used both Nikon and Canon gear before, my photography equipment is all Canon-based gear, with an array of lenses to suit the needs of each individual shoot.

8. What should I wear to my Lifestyle, Engagement or Portrait Session?

For the most part, I probably don’t know your personal style, but if you’re interested in my style of photography it’s likely that you won’t be showing up to your session with matchy-matchy blue jeans and matching t-shirts. For some ideas about what NOT to where and how NOT to approach your photography session, take a look through AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com (especially if you just need a good laugh). I can promise you that your photos will not turn out like those.

9. When is my session confirmed?

Your session is confirmed once I have received the signed copy of your final contract as well as the reservation fee stated in the contract. Unfortunately, I cannot hold dates unless I have received the signed contract and reservation fee.

10. We want to do a Family session with you. Will you find us a great location?

I work together with all of my clients to find the best place possible to take your photos. I will always play a role in helping to discern where a good location is to take your photos. But, you will have a say in where and when you want to have your pictures captured. Let’s start the conversation today.
